Christmas Eve as a busy day for us. We started the day at the Gaylord Texan Hotel to see the ICE exhibit. We won tickets to the exhibit from Tristan's orthodontist. The ICE show was really neat but I am glad we won tickets...not sure we would have spent the money on it. It was REALLY cold and crowded... at least we can say we have done it now.
After the ICE exhibit we came home rested a bit and then heading to Christmas Eve services at our church. This is my favorite tradition of Christmas. I LOVE spending the evening at church with my family and hearing the story of the birth of our Savior. Our pastor is amazing and he reenforced what we have been teaching the kids about the true meaning of Christmas. The past couple of years we have limited the gifts we give the kids to 3 just like the 3 Wise Men's gifts. The kids love this idea...they get something they want, something they need and something to read. It makes them focus on the real meaning of Christmas. We added something to give this year as well so we adopted a family to give gifts to and they both used their own money to buy gifts for each other. They had so much fun shopping for each other. I am glad they are learning that it is fun to give rather than receive. Plus it takes the stress of shopping off of us!
Once Christmas Eve services were over we headed home to celebrate with my mom's side of the family. It was so nice having the entire family together for the holidays. He had the traditional Mexican Christmas dinner...tamales, rice and beans. It was such a fun evening...closing the night with a visit from Santa. The kids were so excited he stopped by...even some of our neighbors stopped Santa on the street to get pictures with him.
